Interesting read. Where is the “sermon sweet spot?”
For me, I’m a pulpit preacher, I need something to reference to. I am building myself up to move away from the manuscript and attempting to gain confidence. My sermons (before a quality music program) were around 20-25 minutes. Now that we have some quality music that fills out the service a little more, like an anthem every Sunday, I preach between 15-20 minutes.
I find youth are not a good barometer for how my sermon is doing because with iPhones and Kindle Fires, no one really looks up anymore, so who knows if they are really listening anyway.
